The territory of the special administrative district of Macau in the very near past belonged to Portugal, and only in 1999 it was transferred to China, being the oldest European colony in East Asia - (since 1557). The official languages here are Chinese and Portuguese. An interesting architectural cocktail was created by mixing two cultures. The ancient European streets, temples and fortresses adjoin to elaborate modern skyscrapers of incredible shapes and constructive solutions. The population was also divided into Portuguese and Chinese.

In Macau, you can meet people of all colors of the skin, because of the high salaries and the opportunity to get a job on the island, foreigners come from all over the world. But the competition here is extremely high, so finding a job is not so easy. You can find employment only for official positions, any kind of independent trade, "street" - work and informal entrepreneurial activity is strictly suppressed and punished by law. Police monitor the order at each intersection, and in any incomprehensible situation immediately takes to the police station. But this does not stop the true adventurers, whom we met quite a lot in Macau.

Once long before the trip to us flew information that in China there are copies of the sights of the most famous cities on the planet. Sometimes these are whole areas with their own streets and national color. The pier has its own Eiffel Tower and Venice, and even New York can be found in some architectural elements. It was such Chinese copies that we met in Macau. In 2018, will be opened the hotel Morpheus under the project Zaha Hadid Architects: it can withstand catastrophic storms and floods, and also received the world's first exoskeleton "free" form. Another interesting fact about Macao is that part of the island consists of artificially filled parts.
